What are Trigonometric Ratios?
- Trigonometric ratios are a set of functions that are based on the properties of a right triangle.
- These functions are called the trigonometric functions.

- These functions are the sine, cosine and tangent functions.
- They are shortened to sin, cos and tan respectively.
- Using these, if you know an angle and one side of a right triangle, or two sides (you can find the third using Pythagoras theorem), you can find any of the properties of a right triangle.
- Trigonometric functions can be used with degrees and radians.
Reciprocal Trigonometric Functions
- There are several different types of trigonometric functions.
- The reciprocal trigonometric functions aren't often used by appear in certain trigonometric identities.
- They are called cosecant, secant and cotangent and shortened to cosec, sec and cot respectively.

- More specifically, they are given as:

Inverse Trigonometric Functions
- The inverse trigonometric functions are used to find the angle, when the value of the trigonometric function is known.
- They are written as arcsin, arccos and arctan.
- Alternatively they can be written as sin⁻¹, cos⁻¹ and tan⁻¹.
