What are the Properties of a Circle?
- A circle can be cut up into many different parts by intersecting lines.
- These lines have their own definitions and properties.

- A chord is strung from two points on the edge of the circle.
- The diameter is the distance from one edge of the circle to the other, it is the longest possible chord that can be made in a circle.
- A radius is a point form the center of a circle to its edge.
- The radius is the same no matter which point on the edge it goes to and is always twice the length of the diameter.
- A secant cuts through a circle and originates from an outside point.
- A tangent is a line that is perpendicular to the edge of the circle at the point which it touches it.
Sectors and Segments
- A sector is a region enclosed by two radii and an arc.
- Unless otherwise indicated, the minor arc refers to the minor sector and the major arc refers to the major sector.

- A segment is the area formed by a chord or secant, which cuts through a circle.
- A chord doesn't pass the edge of a circle while a secant intersects and pass through it.
