The Holy Roman Empire

• The Holy Roman Empire was an empire that united a large amount of western and central European territories, and lasted 800 years since its development in the Middle ages, until 1806.
• It is also referred to as the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation after 1512.
• Not to be confused with the Western Roman Empire.
• The empire was meant to be a continuation of the Western Roman Empire and was conceived over three centuries after its downfall.
