Mitigating Climate Change
- To mitigate climate change the main thing we need to do is invest in sustainable development and protect the environment.
- We should prevent waste and use less natural resources where possible.
- Switching to environmentally-friendly alternative products.
- Replacing fossil fuel industries with renewable energies such as solar, wind and nuclear energy.
- Re-establishing ecosystems and preventing desertification.
- Planting forests and reducing logging.
- Reducing carbon and methane emissions.
- We need innovation and a change in our lifestyle and worldview for these changes to be possible.
IPCC
- The international panel on climate change of IPCC does research and gathers data on climate change.
- They provide international research and through viewpoints from multiple backgrounds.
- Their research is important for providing an understanding of our situation and possible solutions.
International Agreements
- International climate agreements such as the Paris agreement from 2015 are required to ensure co-operation.
- Reducing energy consumption and shifting to renewable energy sources.
- Protecting forests by planting trees and reducing logging.
- New innovations and ecological planning in cities and buildings.
- Individually paying attention to consumption habits and carbon footprint (keep in mind that decisions made by companies and countries are more important).
- Climate change is already here, so we have to begin adapting to it.
