- Coordinates tell the exact location of something on Earth with latitudes and longitudes.
- Coordinates are pronounced as degrees, minutes and seconds.
- For example Rellu is roughly located at the coordinates 62 degrees North and 24 degrees East.
- Lines that go across the Earth called longitudes are used to determine location in the coordinate system.

Latitudes
- Latitude is always given first and tells us how far we are from the equator.
- Between 0 and 90 degrees north (N) or south (S)
- A latitude of 90 degrees means you are exactly at the North Pole and a latitude of 0 degrees means you are on the equator.
- The equator is half the distance from the North Pole to the South Pole.
Longitudes
- Longitude is given second and tells us how far we are from the prime meridian.
- The prime meridian goes through Greenwich in London (this is because there aren't any general determining factors for where Longitude should go through, unlike latitude).
- Between 0 and 180 degrees east (E) or west (W).
- This can be helpful for differentiating longitude and latitude, as longitude can be twice as long as latitude!
- The opposite to the prime meridian is called the date line.
- The date line is where you would find yourself with a longitude of 180 degrees.
