
- The cardinal directions are the four main compass directions. They are based on the magnetic field of the Earth, with the North arrow always pointing towards the north pole and South pointing towards the south pole.
- East points right and West points left.
- All four directions are at right angles to one another.
- The four cardinal directions can be split into 4 more cardinal directions, at 45° angles to one another.
- They are called Northeast, Southeast, Northwest and Southwest.
